The village of Seignosse

A public garden, the town hall, the church, the school, the fronton for Basque pelota matches, a charming little washhouse, a few beautiful Landes-style houses… this is the authentic spirit of Seignosse!
The village of Seignosse, also known as Seignosse-Bourg, is home to nearly 5,000 residents, a wide range of local organisations, and plenty of sports and leisure facilities. Hotels, restaurants, bakeries, butchers, grocery shops and many other businesses make Seignosse an attractive village that is bustling all year round, away from the hustle and bustle of the seaside resort.

a town centre

surrounded by nature

It is from Seignosse-Bourg that you can explore the Étang Noir Nature Reserve; locals enjoy walking there all year round. It is also the route to the Étang Blanc and its peaceful expanse.
If you’re staying in Seignosse-Bourg during the summer, you can take the free shuttle bus to travel back and forth between the coast and the village. Unless you’d prefer to get around by e-bike, which you can hire locally.
And to discover the town’s fascinating history and traditions, follow the Vira and Vasa trail, which will take you from the village to the coast.
At the fronton or the Parc des Sports, there are regular demonstrations or tournaments of Basque pelota – a must-see part of the Basque-Landes tradition!

Traditions

that are experienced

The people of Seignoss love to share their festivals and traditions. You’re sure to take part in the big open-air feasts that punctuate the summer in the village: a wonderful opportunity to catch up and meet the locals and village organisations, who’ll be preparing grilled baby squid and duck for you to enjoy on the spot, whilst chatting with your neighbours.
The traditional Seignosse festivities at the end of August and the Christmas market in December are major celebrations where everyone enjoys getting together. That’s the Seignosse way of life: simplicity and a warm, friendly atmosphere.

Buy local?

It’s like this all year round

In Seignosse village, you’ll find all the shops you need for everyday life – and more! During your holiday, we invite you to support the local economy by shopping at our local shops, which are open all year round.

The shops are clustered along the village’s two main streets; parking is easy and free!

Many artisans, designers, boutiques and businesses have recently set up shop in two new business parks: LAUBIAN and LARRIGAN, located just a 3-minute drive from the heart of the village.

Don’t miss the Fonds Labegorre Art Gallery and the Le DOUZE shopping area with its lovely designer boutiques and concept stores.

street art in Seignosse

As you wander through the village of Seignosse, you’ll be surprised by the street art that has appeared behind the Town Hall, on the edge of the Public Garden. The ‘Le Mur de Seignosse’ association provides a space for painters and graffiti artists to create temporary murals, which change every three months. But keep your eyes peeled! Other permanent works await you on the ocean-facing side.
