Wondering what to see or visit in Seignosse? Here’s a selection of must-see attractions during your stay:

  • The ocean stretching as far as the eye can see (of course!)
  • The Étang Noir nature reserve – A true natural gem where time seems to stand still. As you stroll along its boardwalk, let yourself be enveloped by the tranquillity of the forest, the murmur of the water and the birdsong
  • The Berges de l’Étang Blanc nature spot – Nestled by the water’s edge, this special spot offers a soothing panorama where forest, reeds and shifting reflections blend together – Picnic area on site.
  • The village, with its church, wash house and fronton, all freely accessible.
  • The Fonds Labegorre Art Gallery
  • The walking trail on the Penon dune – Perched atop the Seignossais dune ridge, the wooden walkway winds its way through marram grass, thistles and other plant species specific to this environment. Treat yourself to a breathtaking view of the ocean and its rolling waves, the Pyrenean mountains to the south, and breathe in the sea air.

In the immediate vicinity, you’ll have the chance to explore other sites and museums, whether in the Landes or the nearby Basque Country.

Our tips for exploring the local area

There’s no doubt that during your stay in Seignosse you’ll want to set off to explore the surrounding area, whether for a full day or half a day. The Landes is a vast department, and the inland area is very different from the coast. From the wooded hills of the Chalosse to the banks of the Adour, via the bastides and the Armagnac region, there are a variety of settings that will delight lovers of heritage and historic buildings.

The Basque Country is just 30 km from Seignosse, with the superb town of Bayonne leading the way as the gateway to the typical Basque villages. The Basque coast is also magnificent, with the towns of Biarritz, Bidart, Guethary, Saint-Jean-de-Luz and Hendaye strung along it. You can visit them all in a day’s drive.
